TRANSPORTATION
Rental Cars
It is highly recommended that teams rent cars for ground transportation purposes during the Even as Pedasi and Tonasi are not near the ocean and this will make your daily transportation much more convenient and comfortable for participants (contest transport, free surf and shopping). The Host has arranged a discounted rental car provider, Dollar Rent A Car. Click HERE for full details of the discounted rates.
Pedasí or Tonosí To/From Contest Site:
The distance between the towns of Pedasí or Tonosí to the Contest Site is about 30-45 minutes by car depending on the lodging chosen.
Contest Shuttle Transportation
The Host will be arranging shuttle transportation from the contest site to the various lodging locations. The schedule and frequency of transportation will be limited. TEAMS ARE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT A RESPONSE BY JUNE 10th if transportation is needed. CLICK HERE FOR THE FORM
THE HOST WILL NOT ARRANGE TRANSPORTATION FOR A TEAM IF A RESPONSE IS NOT SUBMITTED!
LODGING
Playa Venao provides various accommodation options in the areas of Pedasí and Tonosí. The full list with contact details can be found HERE. The Host encourages teams to coordinate accommodations directly with the vendor.
Teams must arrange their lodging prior to May 1 in order to verify availability in Pedasí and Tonosí. As of May 2, accommodations will no longer be reserved for teams and may be booked by the general public.
MEALS
The meal options during the contest days will be abundant, as the Contest Site Food Court will be very large and have many options for participants at relatively inexpensive costs.
The Host STRONGLY encourages teams to make the following arrangements for breakfast and dinner:
- Communicate with the owners of your selected lodging in order to arrange meal options for breakfast and dinner.
- Purchase snacks, food and beverages in Panama City before driving to the area of Playa Venao. The distance and drive to find larger grocery stores will be difficult for teams, so plan ahead before arriving to the contest area.
AIR TRAVEL
COPA Airlines has provided the Host Organizer with Discount Codes for travel of event participants. Please note reservations must be made by telephone to the COPA Call Center in order to use the code provided. Click here for the details.
PACKING LIST
In addition to the ISA Suggested Packing List, we are encouraging teams to bring the following items to the event's remote location:
- Insect repellant
- Flashlights
- Everyday convenience items (as many daily essentials are not available close by Playa Venao)
- Umbrella and/or rain jacket (poncho)
- Electrical Currency Converter. Outlets are the same as the USA. Electrical exchange is 240volt.
ATHLETE INFORMATION
ATHLETE ATTENDANCE
All team athletes must be present at time of registration for personal verification of their passport by ISA officials. Please arrange accordingly, since athletes not present will not be registered and will not be allowed participation in the competition. There shall be no exception to this requirement of physical attendance of competitors during registration of the team.
All Teams are required to send full team details to ISA as soon as possible.
OPENING CEREMONY
By request of the Panama Tourism Department and our Host Organizers, teams are highly encouraged to participate in the Opening Ceremony with a Team Uniform. A formal uniform or simple, matching shirt is acceptable. Please respect this request by attending the ceremony prepared.
